The AI Manager · Claude on your desk

Claude on your desk, with your AI Bible in front of it.

Ten minutes, four steps, nothing to code. At the end, Claude sits in this folder, has read who you are and how you like things done, and does the jobs in your Bible when you ask. Beep walks you through it in the film at book.theaimanager.ai/desk.

Your desk is open at localhost:8787.
1

Put your AI Bible in this folder

If you took The AI Manager for Business: open theaimanager.ai/business, press Download my AI Bible, and put the file in this folder in place of MY-AI-BIBLE.md, with that same name.

If not: open MY-AI-BIBLE.md here (double-click; Notepad is fine) and fill in the three parts: who you are, your house rules, the jobs. Ten minutes. Claude reads it before every job.

2

Install Claude, if it is not on this computer yet

Claude Code runs on your own computer and works in a folder. Two ways; the first is easier.

Claude Desktop: download it at claude.ai/download, sign in, and open the Code tab.

Or the command line: install Node from nodejs.org, then in a terminal run npm install -g @anthropic-ai/claude-code and then claude once to sign in.

Claude needs a Claude account (a free one works for a few jobs a day; Pro for every day).

3

Open this folder in Claude and say hello

In Claude Desktop's Code tab choose Open folder and pick this folder. Or in a terminal, go to this folder and type claude.

Then say:

It reads CLAUDE.md and your Bible first, every time. It shows drafts; you send, post, sign and pay. Every job it does goes in desk/log.md.

4

Optional: the desk page, for everyone in the business

A page on this computer with one box, What do you need?, and your jobs as buttons. In a terminal, in this folder: node desk/serve.js then open localhost:8787.

Runs on this computer only, in this folder, with your Bible. Close the terminal to close the desk.
